  • [01] Main opposition leader Tsipras' schedule on Monday

ANA-MPA --- Main opposition Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) leader will visit Dublin on Monday, according to a party announcement.

At 11:30, Tsipras will visit Darndale and meet with representatives of the local community and social organizations to discuss the impact of austerity on vulnerable groups, especially young people.

At 13:00, he will meet with Ireland's Socialist Party MEP Paul Murphy, at the offices of the European Parliament in Dublin, and with the left forum at 16:00.

At 19:00, Tsipras will speak on the international conference "Challenging the rule of the troika, transforming Europe" co-organized by the University of Dublin and the European Network Transform! Europe.

[02] Euro elections is a battle of ideas, PASOK leader says

ANA - MPA --- Euro elections is a battle of ideas, a battle between the Party of European Socialists and the European People's Party, for another Europe, PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos said at a conference on Sunday adding that the Socialist Party is mainly responsible to present a new image for Europe.

Referring to Martin Schulz, who is the Party of European Socialists (PES) candidate designate for European Commission President, Venizelos said that he knows better than anyone else the problems and priorities of people. "It is important to understand that this is a battle of ideas," he noted.

Venizelos underlined that "PASOK had been the largest party in percentage of votes for many years ... but now it is paying the price of the crisis, the responsibility and the difficult decisions."

He also stressed that without government stability and tough decisions, Greece will not manage to complete the program, it will not stay in the eurozone, and it will not be an equal country.

[03] Admin. Reform ministry submits four amendments on public sector bill

ANA- MPA --- The Administrative Reform ministry submitted four amendments on Friday afternoon in the bill on the abolition of 23 agencies and services in the public sector that will be discussed at the Parliamentary plenum next week.

The amendments anticipate the following among other things:

The special secretary of the Public Administration Inspector Corps, its inspectors-auditors and their assistants may be represented by members of the State Legal Council in court cases where they stand accused for acts or omissions of theirs.

The provision on the review of contracts that were of short-term duration and became permanent, a regulation being processed currently, will be rephrased. If the check proves that there was an irregularity during the hiring of an employee, the latter will be dismissed de facto and without compensation.

Those succeeding in ASEP tests whose names were published officially after January 1, 2009, can be appointed through a priority list that will be drafted. Posts in each agency, regional unity, category and staff sector, hiring qualifications and supporting documents required will be determined with the new proclamation.

During the pre-election period of local elections and until the establishment of the new mayors and regional governors, acts changing their service status will not be revoked for those placed in suspension or mobility.

Disposable assets of public utilities (DEKO) that are covered by the public sector's guarantee and constitute a part of the debt of the general government will now be included in the sense of "disposable assets of the Hellenic state".

The issuing of repos to secure liquidity will be promoted with mediation by the Bank of Greece.
