[01] Greek unemployment rate at 27.6 pct in May, Eurostat
ANA-MPA/ Greek unemployment rose to 27.6 pct of the workforce in May,
up from 27 pct in April, Eurostat said on Friday.
In a report, the EU executive's statistics arm said that average
unemployment in the Eurozone was 12.1 pct in July, unchanged from
June. The unemployment rate was also unchanged in the EU-27 at 11 pct.
Austria (4.8 pct), Germany (5.3 pct) and Luxembourg (5.7 pct) recorded
the lowest unemployment rates. Unemployment among men was 24.6 pct in
Greece, while among women the unemployment rate was 31.6 pct and among
young people 62.9 pct.
Cyprus (12.2 pct to 17.3 pct), Greece (23.8 pct to 27.6 pct) and Slovenia
(9.3 pct to 11.2 pct) recorded the biggest annual percentage increases.
