[01] SYRIZA slams Finmin, IMF 'optimism' over economy
ANA-MPA -- Upbeat, optimistic press conferences cannot cover up the
economic and social reality experienced by the Greek people during the
years of austerity memorandums, main opposition SYRIZA-EKM announced
on Monday, in response to statements made by Finance Minister Yannis
Stournaras and an IMF report concerning the state of the economy.
"The more than one million wage earners that will see their wages reduced
yet again when the residual duration of collective agreements expires
in the next few days know this well. It is experienced by the unemployed
that are increasing daily, the small business owners that are struggling
to survive, the farmers working without being able to cover their costs,"
SYRIZA's announcement added.
Ruling out all prospect of economic recovery within the framework of
austerity policies, SYRIZA noted that those banking on demoralising the
voters would be proved wrong and that "hope will prevail, their overthrow
is a condition for society's survival."
