[01] Teacher falls to her death while decorating school's facade
AMNA--A 41-year-old school teacher fell to her death on Wednesday while
decorating the school building's facade for the Christmas holidays. The
incident occurred in the Thessaloniki district of Toumba.amna
According to police, the teacher was on the school building's rooftop when
a drywall ceiling on which she was standing cracked and gave way. The
woman fell from a height of roughly 10 metres into a stairway and was
fatally injured.
[02] State debt to private sector rose to 9.461 bln euros in Oct.
AMNA--The Greek public sector's overdue debt to the private sector rose
to 9.461 billion euros in October, from 9.310 billion euros in September,
official figures showed on Tuesday.amna
A report by the General Accounting Office said that pension funds'
overdue debt to the private sector totaled 4.6 billion euros, of which
2.3 billion euros were debt by the single health fund and 1.4 billion
euros by the civil workers' welfare fund on severance payment. The
Finance ministry plans to pay this debt by the end of 2013 and to use
1.5-2.0 billion euros from an anticipated 33.4 billion euros aid tranche
for this purpose by the end of the year.
[03] Ecofin agrees on granting Greece additional two years in fiscal
adjustement programme
AMNA--The EU's Council of finance ministers on Tuesday agreed on granting
Greece an additional two years to correct its excessive budget deficit,
following a Eurogroup decision on November 26.
The decision also requires Greece to bring its deficit below the 3%
of GDP reference value in 2016, instead of 2014, relaxing the annual
adjustment path previously set. amna
"The agreement between Greece and the troika, approved by the Eurogroup
on 26 November, will enable the disbursement of the next tranches of
financial assistance to Greece under its second economic adjustment
programme," a relevant statement also said.
