[01] GDP drops 6.2 pct in Q1 2012
AMNA--The Greek economy continued to be in a deep recession in the first
quarter of 2012, in which GDP dropped by 6.2 percent, according to flash
estimates released on Tuesday by the independent Hellenic Statistical
Authority (ELSTAT).
According to ELSTAT, available non-seasonally-adjusted data indicate
that, in the 1st quarter of 2012, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
at constant prices of year 2005 decreased by 6.2 % in comparison with
the 1st quarter of 2011.amna
Greece's GDP fell by 6.2 percent to 40.751 billion euros in the first
quarter of 2012, from 43.448 billion euros in the first quarter of 2011.
