[01] FinMin Venizelos unveils State Budget
AMNA--Greece's state budget for 2012, which was tabled on Friday, will
be voted on in parliament on December 7, one day ahead of a European
Union summit.
Government vice president and finance minister Evangelos Venizelos, who
tabled the budget in parliament, asked parliament president Philippos
Petsalnikos to set out the budget debate procedure so that the budget
will be voted by the December 8 EU summit.
Unveiling the ambitious budget, Venizelos called it a "window of
opportunity" opening up, and categorically stressed that this was
the first time that a state budget was not accompanied by new tax and
collection measures.amna
"It is a budget that will reverse the landscape, and will have a primary
surplus for the first time, with the proper management," Venizelos said.
