[01] Vote of confidence in new government on Wed. afternoon
AMNA--Parliament holds a vote of confidence in Greece's new transition
government on Wednesday afternoon, after a three-day debate of new prime
minister Lucas Papademos' policy statement.
Papademos presented his policy statement on Monday afternoon, in
parliament, after which a three-day debate began on the policy statement,
which winds up at noon on Wednesday with a roll-call vote.
The transitional government is backed by former ruling PASOK party, the
main opposition New Democracy (ND) party and the Popular Orthodox Rally
(LAOS) party.
Most of the former PASOK government ministers and deputy ministers have
remained in their posts, including finance minister Evangelos Venizelos,
while ND is participating with six members and LAOS with four.
