[01] Wildfire raging in EvrosANA-MPA/A wildfire that broke out on Wednesday at Lefkimi, Evros prefecture, NE Greece, continued to rage on Thursday. According to authorities, the blaze has already burnt roughly 2,500 hectares of forestland and farm areas.Forty seven firefighting vehicles, assisted by two water dropping helicopters and four firefighting airplanes, have been deployed. The blaze is not, for the time being, threatening residential areas.ana-mpa Police arrested a local farmer and charged him with negligent arson. Moreover, a wildfire that broke out late Wednesday in forest area in Oblou, NW Peloponnese, was still raging on Thursday. Firefighters worked through the night in order to extinguish the blaze in the face of gusty winds.ana-mpa Nine fire engines and a helicopter as well as local residents and a fire brigade unit were deployed in the area.
