    Prime minister George Papandreou is scheduled to fly on Monday to Brussels, where he will have meetings with eurogroup president Jean-Claude Juncker and with European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso in the afternoon, as well as with European Council chief Herman van Rompuy possibly on Tuesday morning, before returning to Athens for a parliamentary confidence vote in his newly-resuffled government.

    [02] Vote of confidence in gov't on Tuesday

    A three-day debate for a vote of confidence in the newly-reshuffled government opens in Parliament at noon on Sunday, with an address by prime minister and ruling PASOK party leader George Papandreou.

    Papandreou, who made a broad Cabinet reshuffle on Friday, has asked for a renewed vote of confidence in the new government.

    The parliamentary procedure will wind up at midnight Tuesday with an open roll-call vote.

    [03] Acropolis Museum celebrates 2nd anniversary

    The New Acropolis Museum celebrates its second anniversary on Monday.

    The 25,000 square-meter Museum will be open to the public on Monday from 8:00 in the morning until midnight, to celebrate the event.

    The Museum includes more than 4,000 exhibits spread over 14,000 square meters of exhibition space.

    To mark the event, the City of Athes Symphony Orchestra will stage a free concert at 9:00 p.m., performing works by Strauss, Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky and Piazzola.

    [04] New FinMin at eurogroup meeting

    (ANA-MPA)-- Newly sworn-in finance minister Evangelos Venizelos will be in Luxembourg on Sunday for an extraordinary meeting of the eurozone finance ministers, in his first participation in a eurogroup meeting since he took over the key ministry on Friday.

    In a statement appearing in a newspaper on Saturday, Venizelos, who is also a government vice-president, said that an immediate priority of the government is to make more evident the just distribution of the burdens and moral balance of the austerity measures.(ANA-MPA)

    "I am fully aware of the responsibility I am assuming and of the situation in the country," Venizelos said in an interview with To Vima newspaper appearing on Saturday, adding that "I fully respect the citizens who are protesting".(ANA-MPA)

    "There is always room for direct, simple and practical solutions in matters that are troubling the citizens and which can be resolved with common sense," he said.(ANA-MPA)

    He added that Greece's relationship "with our institutional partners is founded on our credibility, and is an open process of negotiation for the mutual benefit".(ANA-MPA)

    [05] FM in Cyprus

    (ANA-MPA) -- Greece's new foreign minister Stavros Lambrinidis arrived in Cyprus on Saturday, in his first visit abroad since the assumption of the foreign ministry a day earlier.

    Following his arrival at Larnaca Airport at noon Lambrinidis, a Greek Europarliamentarian until his appointment to the foreign ministry, headed directly to Cyprus President Demetris Christofias' summer residence in the village of Kellaki, where he attended a working lunch and was briefed by Christofias on the course of negotiations on the Cyrus issue ahead of the July 7 meeting in Geneva between the Cyprus president and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu.(ANA-MPA)

    On Saturday afternoon, Lambrinidis had talks at the Cypriot foreign ministry with his Cypriot counterpart Marcos Kyprianou.(ANA-MPA)

    [06] ND ready for elections

    (ANA-MPA)-- Main opposition New Democracy is fully prepared for general elections, which will be 'soon', party secretary Andreas Lykourentzos said in a newspaper interview appearing Saturday.

    In an interview with the weekend edition of Eleftheros Typos newspaper, Lykourentzos said that "the government has collapsed in the Greek people's consciense for some time now, under the weight of its lies, its flippant promises and the tragic failure of its policy".(ANA-MPA)

    "The time has come for the people to speak," he added.(ANA-MPA)

    [07] PAME rallies

    PAME, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) affiliated labor organisation, organised protest rallies against the government's Medium-Term fiscal program in Athens, Thessaloniki and other major cities throughout Greece on Saturday.

    The main demonstration in Athens, at central Omonia Square, was addressed by KKE leader Aleka Papariga.

    In an announcement PAME called for escalation of the struggle and the clash with capital and the monopolies.
