  • [01] Strikes, mobilisations for Thurs.

(ÁÍÁ-ÌPA) -- Unions representing bus and trolley bus drivers in Athens have announced a work stoppage between 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, while trains won't run due to a strike by workers at Hellenic Rail (OSE).

Moreover, a work stoppage was called by the civil servants' union for contract workers in Greece's cavernous public sector, with a rally scheduled outside the Supreme Court, where a ruling is expected in a case brought by contract workers who demand permanent tenure.

Moreover, medical and dental associations have also called on their members to join a one-day strike on Thursday.

Finally, many pharmacies remained closed, due to opposition by pharmacists' associations to a planned liberalisation in the sector and the lifting of several restrictions in the opening of new pharmacies.
