  • [01] Archaeological finds discovered during electric rail line's maintenance

    (ANA-MPA) -- Árchaeological finds were located during maintenance works on the electric train (ISAP) line tracks in the eponymous Thission district of central Athens, which lies on the boundary of the Acropolis archaeological site and near the ancient Agora and Forum.

    An announcement on Friday informed passengers that the Monastiraki-Thission section of the line will open after the conclusion of the Archaeological Service's excavations.

    [02] ASE opening: Big decline

    Equity prices were declining at the opening of trade on Monday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index down 1.49 percent, standing at 1,475.73 points at 11:15 am, and turnover at 10.789 million euros.

    Individual sector indices were moving downwards, with the only gains in Chemicals, up 0.82 percent.

    The biggest losses were in Health, down 2.48 percent, and Banks, down 1.97 percent.

    The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was down 1.60 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was down 0.27 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was down 0.16 percent.

    Of the stocks traded, 14 were up, 48 were down, and 16 were unchanged.
