[01] Greek, Luxembourg FMs meet
ANA-MPA/Luxembourg Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn, speaking after
meeting Foreign Minister Dimitris Droutsas, appealed for Brussels'
solidarity for the Greek government's effort for the country's
restructuring, "which many in Europe characterise a miracle at this
moment."
Asselborn also stressed that the problem of illegal immigration that
Greece is facing is a European one and called on European partners to
show their solidarity in practice, as Luxembourg is showing it.
A day before the European Council summit, where the main issue of
discussion will be economic governance, the meeting between the two
Foreign Ministers acquires special importance. The Greek side, as
Droutsas said in the joint statements that followed, "has every
interest and desires the creation of a permanent support mechanism for
European economies." Greece, he stressed, has worked and is working in
this direction and it will be examined seriously at Thursday's meeting
whether the change of Euroopean Treaties is necessary.
