    Equity prices were rising at the opening of trade on Friday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index up 1.10 percent, standing at 1,531.55 points at 11:15 am, and turnover at 17.148 million euros, following Monday's plunge to a 12-year record low.

    Individual sector indices were moving upward across the board, with the biggest gains in Telecoms, up 3.23 percent; and Financial Services, up 2.38 percent.

    The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 0.93 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 0.87 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was up 1.22 percent.

    Of the stocks traded, 63 were up, 6 were down, and 9 were unchanged.

    The new social security system and reactions, the skyrocketing in unemployment and the troika's (IMF, EU, ECB) satisfaction with the course of the Greek economy, dominated the headlines on Friday in Athens' newspapers.
