[01] Panathinaikos wins Greek Super League football title
(ANA-MPA) -- Panathinaikos Athens (PAO) players celebrate the clinching
of the 2009-2010 Greek Super League championship on Sunday, following
the team's victory at the Athens Olympic Stadium over Iraklis
Thessaloniki 2-0. The title marks the 20th time that the popular Athens
club has won the Greek championship since it was founded 1908, and its
first title since the 2003-2004 season. Panathinaikos mathematically
clinched the first division championship on the next to last week of
play.
[02] ASE opening: Surge
Equity prices were surging at the opening of trade on Monday on the
Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), in the aftermath of the Eurogroup's
finalisation of a safety net for the Greek economy immediately
available if needed, with the basic share price index up 4.64 percent,
standing at 2,083.54 points at 11:45 a.m., and turnover at a
substantial 142.743 million euros.
Individual sector indices were moving upward across the board, with the
biggest gains in Banks, up 8.29 percent; and Health, up 5.19 percent.
The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up
5.64 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 3.55 percent, and the
FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was up 3.37 percent.
Of the stocks traded, 130 were up, 8 were down, and 10 were unchanged.
