    (ANA-MPA) -- Armenian Orthodox Church Catholicos Aram I of Cilicia arrived in Greece on Friday morning for a two-day visit.

    He was welcomed at Athens' Airport by representatives of the Church of Greece, state officials, Armenian Church members and the ambassadors of Armenia and Lebanon.

    Following a mass at the Cathedral of St. Gregory in downtown Athens, Aram was received by President of the Republic Karolos Papoulias.

    On Saturday the Armenian Patriarch will meet with Athens Mayor Nikitas Kaklamanis, and will subsequently be received by Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece. Later in the evening, he will officiate at the vespers held in the church of St. Jacob, in the Piraeus district of Nikea.

    [02] Stocks lose siginificant ground

    Stocks resumed their downward trend on the last trading session of a very negative week at the Athens Stock Exchange, after a brief recovery on Thursday. The composite index of the market fell 2.32 pct to end at 2,144.56 points, losing 7.86 pct in the week and 2.35 pct so far this year. Turnover was a moderate 227.790 million euros.

    The FTSE 20 index dropped 2.71 pct, the FTSE 40 index eased 1.22 pct and the FTSE 80 index ended 1.51 pct lower. The Oil index was the only one to end higher (0.37 pct), while Travel (4.29 pct) and Utilities (3.32 pct) suffered the heaviest percentage losses of the day. Broadly, decliners led advancers by 139 to 54 with another 45 issues unchanged.

    Texapret (17.65 pct), Fieratex (9.09 pct), Kepenou Mills (8.79 pct), Praxitelio (7.14 pct) and Fashion Box (6.80 pct) were top gainers, while Elfico (20.0 pct), Lanakam (19.87 pct), Ideal (16.82 pct) and Petzetakis (10.20 pct) were top losers.
