[01] Candidates for ND leadership on campaign trail
The campaigns of the four candidates for the leadership of main
opposition New Democracy (ND) were in full swing on the weekend.
Former health minister and ND deputy Dimitris Avramopoulos addressed a
campaign rally in Sparta on Saturday afternoon. Former culture
minister, MP Antonis Samaras, was in Tripolis on Saturday. Former
foreign minister, MP Dora Bakoyannis, was due to address a campaign
gathering in Thessaloniki on Sunday, after which she will meet with
local officials and producer representatives in Kilkis.
The ND Central Committee will convene on Saturday, Octoboer 31, to
finalise its recommendation to the party's Extraordinary Congress on
November 7 for the amendment of the the ND Charter's provisions
regarding the provisions for election of the party president.
