A fire-fighting aircraft crashed on the Ionian island of Cephallonia on
Thursday morning. Fire brigade officials said the pilot's body is
missing, but he is presumed dead.
The plane was identified as a PZL (M-18 Dromader) single engine
cropduster/fire-fighter craft.

[03] Aegean Regatta highlights islands' beauty
The second phase of the Aegean Regatta International open sea race was
concluded on Wednesday at port of Vathy on the eastern Aegean island of
Samos. A lack of winds delayed the start of the second race. The
Regatta is organised for the ninth year by the Merchant Marine, Aegean
and Islands policy Ministry. Seventy-three vessels and some 700 crew
members participated this year in the race, which set off on Aug. 22
from the eastern Aegean isle of Ikaria. The Aegean Regatta will end on
Saturday, Aug. 29 when the vessels will dock in Lipsi isle.
[04] Firefighting plane crash
A fire-fighting aircraft crashed on the Ionian island of Cephallonia on
Thursday morning, killing the pilot of the aircraft. The 55-year-old
pilot's body was later collected by the crew of a rescue helicopter.
The single-engine Polish-made PZL (M-18 Dromader) returning from a
fire-fighting mission in the Katelio region of Cephallonia. The
accident was recorded at 12:54 p.m. (local time).
The veteran pilot was identified as Stergios Kotoulas.
