    Credit conditions reportedly worsened in the local market last month, with the number of bounced checks reaching 30,342 and totalling 296.49 million euros, official figures showed on Monday.

    In the January-July period, the number of bounced checks reached 196,431, totalling 1.954 billion euros.

    [02] ASE opening: Small rise

    Equity prices were rising at the opening of trade on Tuesday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index up 0.34 percent, standing at 2,317.57 points at 10:45 a.m., and turnover at 10.2 million euros.

    Individual sector indices were moving mostly upward, with the biggest gains in Health, up 3.63 percent; Personal and Household Goods, up 1.09 percent; and Banks, up 1.07 percent.

    The biggest losses were in Insurance, down 2.61 percent; Oil & Gas, down 1.33 percent; and Construction, down 1.01 percent.

    The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 0.51 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 0.71 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was up 0.55 percent.

    Of the stocks moved, 64 were up, 26 were down, and 18 were unchanged.
