[01] Tsipras at Political CommitteeCoalition of the Left, Movements and Ecology (Synaspismos) President Alexis Tsipras inaugurated the meeting of the party's Central Political Committee on Saturday. He proposed the radical reorganising of the party's functioning, as well as the need for changes in it. Tsipras noted that the results of the Euroelections fell below the party's expectations and goals and added that truths must be told about mistakes and omissions. Referring to criticism over the outcome of the Euroelections, Tsipras said that "I have great patience and persistence and I am prepared to listen to all views", but stressed that "I shall not agree with exaggerations that harm the members of the party and our voters." Focusing on the results of the Euroelections, he said that the abstention was unprecedented, an overal crisis of the political system exists and there was a considerable upsurge for the far-Right that capitalised on the reaction of the social classes to the crisis. Tsipras further said that the Coalition and the Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) constitute the only ideological and political counterweight for the far-Right, while pointing to the complete collapse of socialdemocracy in Europe that is part of the crisis. He also said that SYRIZA failed to promote its own reply to the crisis, or to the fear created by the crisis and insecurity that fuels the far-Right. Lastly, Tsipras said that the party's Leftist policy must be clarified and expressed the hope that it will achieve its targets without introversion. The party's Central Political Committee will complete its work on Sunday night. CAPTION: ANA-MPA file photo of Coalition of the Left, Movements and Ecology President Alexis Tsipras.
