    Equity prices were rising at the opening of trade on Monday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index up 2.60 percent, standing at 2,387.89 points at 10:45 a.m., and turnover at 35.6 million euros.

    Individual sector indices were moving upward across the board, with the biggest gains in Raw Materials, up 4.31 percent; Food and Beverages, up 4.20 percent; Media, up 3.72 percent; Technology, up 3.71 percent; and Telecoms, up 3.31 percent.

    The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 2.76 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 2.89 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was up 2.90 percent.

    Of the stocks moved, 138 were up, 8 were down, and 14 were unchanged.

    [02] PAO in Champions League

    Panathinaikos Athens beat crosstown rival AEK 2-0 at the Athens Olympic Stadium in a playoff game on Sunday and secured participation in European Champions League qualifying rounds. The goals were scored by Karagounis (30' pen.) and Rukavina (36'). AEK will play in Europa League qualifying rounds.

    In the other game, PAOK Thessaloniki beat Larissa 1-0 at Toumba Stadium with a goal scored by Anastasakos (22') and ended third in the series.

    Final standings of the playoffs series: Panathinaikos 18 points, AEK 12, PAOK 9 and Larissa 1.

    The Monday edition of Athens' dailies at a glance

    The Siemens case and the upcoming European Parliament elections were the main front-page items in Athens' dailies on Monday.

    ADESMEFTOS TYPOS: "With (bogus) opinion polls and 'mud' against ND they're attempting to muddy the waters - Orgy of 'black propaganda' a week before the Europarliament Elections".

    APOGEVMATINI: "Karamanlis accelerates in the final stretch to the Euroelections - In Markopoulos on Friday, Egnatia Highway and Igoumenitsa on Saturday, and Lamia yesterday (Sunday)".

    AVRIANI: "The examining magistrate must summon the treasurers of the political parties - Who game them the 360 billion euros they spent in 18 election campaigns from 1974 to the present?".

    CHORA: "The routes of the black money deliveries from Austria to Greece - Chora continues its revelations on the Siemens scandal".

    ELEFTHERI ORA: "Blind man imprisoned for debt (1,000 euros) to IKA (Social Security Foundation) at a time when the scandals with the billions in bribes are 'running' at rally speed, and the suspects are fleeing abroad unhindered".
