    A 48-year-old Albanian man formerly employed in a cleaning company has been arrested by Attica security police as a suspect in the January acid attack against Bulgarian national Konstantina Kouneva, who was active in the cleaners' union, it was announced on Tuesday.

    According to evidence and information collected by security police investigating the attack, the 48-year-old Albanian is believed to be the man who blocked Kouneva's way while an accomplice threw acid at her.

    Police said the 48-year-old had also in the past threatened Kouneva, while the day after the attack he telephoned her house asking for information on her condition.

    Police forwarded their evidence and information to the examining magistrate assigned the case, who immediately issued an arrest warrant, and the Albanian was arrested on Saturday, while he his due to testify before the examining magistrate on Wednesday.
