  • [01] Agriculture Minister to hold meetings with farmers

    Agriculture and Foods Minister Sotiris Hatzigakis will be having meetings throughout Wednesday with representatives of farmers' organizations from areas where farmers are carrying out mobilizations.

    At 6:30 p.m. the minister will receive farmers from central Greece and an hour later with a farmers' committee from Crete.

    Hatzidakis expressed his satisfaction and congratulated the farmers on Crete who earlier suspended their takeover of Nikos Kazantzakis airport in Iraklio, Crete.

    [02] Athens Stock Exchange: Decline

    Equity prices were declining on Wednesday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index down 0.58 percent, standing at 1,642.91 points at 14:15 p.m and turnover at 82.5 million euros.

    Individual sector indices were moving downward nearly across the board, with the biggest gains in Food and Beverages, up 2.99 percent; Public Utilities, up 1.52 percent; and Telecoms, up 1.46 percent.

    The heaviest losses were in Insurance, down 3.01 percent; Financial Services, down 2.66 percent; Technology, down 2.28 percent; and Personal and Household Goods, down 2.14 percent.

    The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was down 0.30 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was down 2.62 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was down 1.27 percent.

    Of the stocks moved, 38 were up, 135 were down, and 52 were unchanged.
