[01] Testing of toxic material near Mitrovica
Greece's armed forces general staff office on Monday announced that the
KFOR command in Kosovo has requested the testing of samples taken from
purported toxic materials found a week ago on three trucks at a plant
near Mitrovica, a town in the north.
KFOR, the NATO-led international force responsible for security in the
province, called for testing in two internationally certified
laboratories, as well as verifiable actions and procedures to
neutralise whatever toxic substances.
Results are expected in two months. Currently, a French army brigade is
monitoring the plant, while the Greek army's 644th motorised battalion
has returned to its base in Mitrovica.
