Defence Minister Evangelos Meimarakis continued his two-day visit to
military units on Samos and Agathonissi, in the eastern Aegean, on
Thursday, stressing that expenditures taking place for the members of
the Armed Forces are expenditures for peace which, in essence, should
be included in investments.
Meimarakis said that the "high morale, excellent training and the
professionalism of the members of the Armed Forces, elements that
contribute to the citizens of the country and visitors feeling very
safe, is ascertained by all."
The minister arrived at Samos airport at noon on Wednesday and then
travelled by helicopter to Agathonissi and Farmakonissi to visit
military outposts.
"Continuous live and regular contact with all the members of the Armed
Forces, particularly those serving in border regions and guarding
Thermopylae, I think are always necessary and creative and give one the
possibility of handling issues preoccupying them in a better way,"
Meimarakis said.
