  • [01] Bakoyannis,Rice to meet

Greek foreign minister Dora Bakoyannis will met on Tuesday evening with her US counterpart, secretary of state Condoleezza Rice, on the sidelines of an international donor conference for boosting law and order in the Palestinian territories taking place in Berlin.

The meeting will not take place, as originally scheduled, on the German foreign ministry premises where the conference is being hosted, but instead at a central Berlin hotel where Bakoyannis is staying.

The meeting was requested by the American side and will chiefly focus on the outstanding dispute between Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) over the name issue, which the U.S. side is anxious to see settled as soon as possible. The meeting is being held in view of a visit to Athens by the UN mediator in the name issue talks, Matthew Nimetz.
