[01] Papariga urges continuous action for Cyprus solution
Communist Party of Greece (KKE) General Secretary Aleka Papariga
stressed the need for continuous action to create the conditions that
will lead to a fair and viable solution in Cyprus, in an interview
published on Tuesday by the Cypriot newspaper "Haravgi".
Papariga stated that developments showed that the rejection of the
Annan Plan on Cyprus ?did not lead to a catastrophe?, while at the same
time she berated the EU stance on the issue, maintaining that EU
decisions took neither international law nor the peoplesâ rights into
consideration.
Papariga also referred to the current situation in Greece and her
partyâs struggle against bipartisanism, mentioning that the majority of
the people are aware of the fact that the two major parties, the ruling
New Democracy and main opposition PASOK, have no essential differences
between them but find it difficult to break away from those parties.
