[01] Professors' union to continue strike against reforms
A motion to continue protests against the government's tabled reforms
for the higher education sector as approved by a majority of university
lecturers participating at a conference by their relevant union
(POSDEP) on Sunday.
The motion was passed by 94 in favour, 63 against and with 32
abstentions recorded.
According to the union's board, the vote means that an ongoing strike
will continue, while the chairman of the conference, who is also the
president of the board at the Athens law school, warned of court
challenges if the draft bill is ratified by Parliament -- a prospect
that is more-or-less assured given the government's unchallenged
majority in the 300-MP legislature.
