[01] ND sec't holds talks with Thessaloniki mayors
Ruling New Democracy party's secretary Lefteris Zagoritis held talks on
Saturday with mayors of municipalities in the northern prefecture of
Thessaloniki who are affiliated with ND. Talks focused on the upcoming
municipal and prefectural elections in October.
"On April 7, ND's national conference on local administration issues
will take place at the Peace and Friendship Stadium (in Athens) and
Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis will be attending," Zagoritis
announced.
"We will have the opportunity of discussing our positions on first- and
second-stage self-administration, prospects and the large amount of
work accomplished, both at institutional level and for the financial
support for local government," he added.
The meeting between Zagoritis and the mayors was also attended by local
party officials
