[01] Deputy FM Skandalakis to offer humanitarian aid during ceremony in
Atlanta
NEW YORK (ANA-MPA/P. Panagiotou) - Greek Deputy Foreign Minister
Panagiotis Skandalakis is expected to offer humanitarian aid to the
victims of cyclone "Katrina" during a special ceremony which will he
held in Atlanta on Monday. Present at the ceremony will be Greek
Ambassador to Washington, Alexandros Mallias, U.S. Ambassador to
Greece, Charles Ries, and members of Greek-American organisations.
[02] Macedonia-Thrace Journalists' Union cuts traditional New Year cake
The Union of Journalists of Macedonia-Thrace on Friday cut their
traditional New Year's cake, in a ceremony attended by Thessaloniki
Metropolitan Anthimos and representatives of the political leadership,
university establishments, and city officials. Union board chairman
Dimitris Gousidis outlined the role of journalists today, referred to
the sector's problems, and to mobilisations carried out in 2005.
The event was also attended by Macedonia-Thrace minister Nikos
Tsiartsionis, deputy development minister George Salagoudis, deputy
sports minister George Orfanos, MPs of all the political parties,
Thessaloniki prefect Panayotis Psomiadis, Thessaloniki mayor Vassilis
Papageorgopoulos, representatives of the Security Corps, and other
officials.
