BELGRADE (ANA/N. Pelpas) - Deputy Foreign Minister Evripidis
Stylianidis, speaking in an interview with the Serb news agency
"Tanjug", said that on the issue of Kosovo "a solution must be examined
that will constitute something less than independence and something
more than autonomy."
Stylianidis made it clear that Greece will insist in Belgrade's
participation during the taking of final decisions on Kosovo, stressing
that Greece has made known with clarity to its friends and allies, in
Europe, the United States and the UN, that no solution can be accepted
that is not supported by Serbia-Montenegro.
Referring to the European prospects of Serbia-Montenegro, the deputy
foreign minister said that "Greece fully supports the European
prospects of Serbia-Montenegro, because we believe that it constitutes
the only way for the maintenance of stability, peace and cooperation in
the Balkans. For this reason, we believe that Serbia-Montenegro must
participate in the European family, that it is ready and can act in the
direction of stability in the region."
Stylianidis termed relations between the two countries very friendly,
adding that "the strong friendship between the two governments, the two
countries and the two peoples, the Serb and Greek people, constitute
the most stable foundation for the building of the common future."
