PARIS (ANA) -- Greek Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis on Friday was received here by French President Jacques Chirac, as part of his official visit to France.

Afterwards, Karamanlis noted that a wide spectrum of bilateral relations, which he described as excellent, were discussed, along with efforts to boost ties even more.

"Talks took place in a very friendly climate, which, by the way, reflects the particularly close and traditional relations between Greece and France. We discussed issues of European interest, especially those involving expansion and fiscal prospects for the 2007-2013 period," Karamanlis said, adding:

"We also discussed issues of wider international and regional interest, such as the Balkans, the Cyprus issue, the Middle East situation and results of the recent United Nations General Assembly," the premier said.
