[01] Women's water polo team takes world league title by defeating
Russia 13-10
The Greek women's water polo team posted its biggest victory ever on
Sunday by beating host Russia 13-10 in the super final of the FINA
Women's Water Polo World League, a match that was held in the northern
Russian town of Kirishi. The same team won the silver medal at last
year's Olympic Games in Athens.
The scores of each of the eight-minute quarters: 4-3, 2-5, 0-4, 4-1.
Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis in a congratulations message said that
"today's great distinction, a year after the Olympic Games, vindicates
our athletes' strenuous efforts."
