[01] Greek FinMin meets visiting ECB president Jean-Claude Trichet
Greek Economy and Finance Minister George Alogoskoufis and Bank of
Greece Governor Nikos Garganas on Friday briefed European Central Bank
President Jean-Claude Trichet over the condition of the country's
economy, emphasizing the advantages offered by new tax and development
laws promoted by the government.
The meeting with ECB's head also revolved around Greek economic issues
related to the EU Economy and Finance ministers' council.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Alogoskoufis said he would
discuss the issue of a replacement for C. Nezis, bourse-listed Public
Power Corp.'s chief executive with Development Minister Dimitris
Sioufas. Nezis resigned this week.
