[03] Athens Bourse Close: Stocks drop in heavy selling

The Athens bourse finished lower in heavy selling, traders said.

The general share index shed 1.03 per cent to end at 2,513.87 points. Turnover was 141.2 million euros.

The FTSE/ASE-20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks ended 0.87 per cent down; the FTSE/ASE-40 for medium capitalisation paper 1.79 per cent down; and the FTSE/ASE-80 for small cap equities lost 2.25 per cent.

Of stocks traded, declines led advances at 271 to 43 with 48 issues remaining unchanged.
