Regulatory approval is expected from Greek authorities in June and from the European Union's competition committee in July, the officials said. Interamerican's shareholders endorsed the sale of 54.3 percent of the company's stock to Eureko, and a transfer of assets to and from Dimitris Kontominas, who set up the company. Kontominas was re-elected as Interamerican's president. [03] Soccer - AEK - UEFA opponent22/06/2001 18:06:24A mostly unknown club from Luxembourg, Club Sportif Grevenmacher, will be AEK Athens opponent in UEFA play next season, with two matches scheduled in August. The first game has been set for Aug. 9 in Athens. Grevenmacher finished second last season in the Luxembourg league with 49 points. In response to Friday's draw, new AEK coach Fernando Santos well known from his stint at Porto said "its only natural for AEK to be considered the favourite in both games with Luxembourgs Grevenmacher, but well try to prove that on the pitch.? Santos, who was contacted in Portugal, also noted that he doesnt have any information as yet on AEKs UEFA opponent. Traders said the telecoms sector resisted pressures with Hellenic Telecoms and Cosmote scoring moderate gains, while blue chip banks suffered heavy losses (National Bank -1.73%, Alpha Bank -2.02%). The general index ended 0.48 percent lower at 2,786.39 points, off the day's lows of 2,754.75 points, showing a net loss of 2.56 percent in the week.. Turnover was a low 141.147 million euros, or 48.096 billion drachmas. The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavy traded stocks ended at 1,609.08 points, off 0.68 percent, the FTSE/ASE 40 index fell 0.86 percent to 316.41 points, and the FTSE/ASE SMALLCAP 80 index ended at 883.03 points, down 0.83 percent. The parallel market index for smaller capitalisation stocks ended at 264.88 points, off 0.60 percent. [06] Fire Department reports 74 fires nationwide in past 24 hours22/06/2001 15:14:45Seventy-four fires have been reported throughout Greece in the last 24 hours, the Fire Department said on Friday morning, and all were now under control.
