Constantine Yannitsis, the son of Greece's labour minister Tasos Yannitsis has been murdered in Mexico, it was learned Tuesday.

Sources close to the minister said that the 27-year-old Constantine, a post-graduate student at a US university, had gone to Mexico with friends for the holiday break.

They said Constantine was mugged and killed, but no further details were immediately available.

The minister departed Tuesday for the US immediately after being informed of the tragedy.
