    Sunny skies are forecast for throughout Greece on Sunday with only scattered cloud in the east and south. Northerly winds light to moderate in the west, strong to gale-force levels in the southern Aegean with a gradual weakening by mid-afternoon. On the mainland temperatures will range from 12C to 30; 17C to 26 on the islands. Sunshine for Athens with moderate to high northerly winds, 17C to 29C. Sunny weather for Thessaloniki, 16C to 28C.

    SOFIA (ANA B. Borisov) -- National Bank of Greece has purchased an 89-percent share of United Bulgarian Bank (UBB), according to reports in the local media on Saturday.

    Press reports stated that the sale was announced in London by a representative for the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which reportedly acted as an intermediary in the deal. Additionally, it was reported that the sale would be legally concluded by the end of the month, along with a subsequent announcement on the sale price and other terms.

    BERLIN (ANA/Reuters) Greek Prime Minister Costas Simitis briefly met with US President Bill Clinton late Friday evening on the sidelines of an international summit here focusing on efforts to better manage a global new economy to the benefit of all.

    Greek-US relations were reportedly the topic of the two leaders discussion at an evening reception in the German capital.

    US President Bill Clinton and13 other international centre-left leaders on Saturday announced their resolve to step up government initiatives amid an increasingly globalised economy and society.
