    President of the Republic Kostis Stephanopoulos on Easter Sunday exrpressed his warmest wishes to the Greek people in light of the Easter holiday, during his visit at hospital in the town of Rio, the Peloponnese.

    Later in the day he departed by helicopter to visit military units on the island of Skyros and was expected to also visit the military training centre at Thebes for the traditional well-wishing to the servicemen of the country.

    Prime Minister Costas Simitis was continuing his holiday in the island of Corfu and was expected to visit the Greek Naval Station of the island.

    Main opposition New Democracy (ND) leader was scheduled to visit the Armored Corps Training Centre (KETTH) in Avlona, Attica. Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Aleka Papariga and Coalition of the Left and Progress (Synaspismos) Nikos Constantopoulos were also expected to visit KETTH.

    Defence Minister Akis Tsohatzopoulos was scheduled to depart for a visit to the Greek brigade in Kosovo, part of the NATO forces there.

    Variable weather is forecast for Monday throughout the country with cloudy and rain in most parts of mainland Greece and later throughout the islands as well.

    Winds will be south variable mild and temperatures will range in the north from 10C to 26C and in the islands from 14C to 24C.
