Kostas Simitis, prime minister, elected today as the new president of PASOK (Panhellenic Sosialistic Movement), with 400 votes more than his opponent, Akis Tsochatzopoulos.

Among the 5,100 voters of the convention, 2,372 voted for Kostas Simitis and 2,324 voted for Akis Tsochatzopoulos.

The final results for the central committee of the party expected to be issued early in the morning of Monday.
