Christofias said UN Secretary General Kofi Annan should work towards the implementation of human rights in Cyprus for all its people and called on the UN Security Council to deal with Turkish threats against Cyprus pointing out that the side responsible for sustaining the current deadlock in the efforts to find a solution to the problem should be held accountable for its actions. He also said the European Union should create a policy to prevent Turkey from creating crisis situations in Cyprus.
