Cette proposition de statu quo repose sur le fait qu'il est encore trop tôt pour apprécier les effets de la réforme de la politique agricole commune et de l'élargissement de l'UE sur le secteur de la fécule de pomme de terre.[02] EU electronic communications markets : outlook good, but more progress needed on regulatory reformThe EU electronic communications sector is showing signs of intensifying competition and strong growth in some segments. Progress in implementing the regulatory package has been good, but more work is needed if Europe is to reap the benefits of a fully competitive sector, says the European Commission's latest report on the implementation of the EU electronic communications regulatory package, adopted today. This report, which for the first time covers 25 Member States, highlights the strong expansion of mobile and broadband communications. Despite progress on reform, the Commission is concerned that delays and ineffective application in some Member States could hinder competition, innovation and investment.[03] EU-China Summit : new steps in a growing relationshipAt the 7th Annual EU-China Summit, which takes place on 8 December in The Hague, the European Union and China will further strengthen their maturing strategic partnership. The EU will raise topics including the fight against illegal migration, and human rights, and discussions will also focus on economic issues including the Doha Development Round, Textiles and other trade concerns. A number of international issues including North Korea and Burma/ Myanmar will also feature. A joint declaration will be signed on non- proliferation and arms control and agreements will also be concluded on customs co-operation, and science and technology. It is hoped that agreement can also be reached on joint research on the peaceful use of nuclear energy. The European Commission will be represented by President José Manuel Barroso, Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, and Commissioner for External Trade, Peter Mandelson.
