  • [01] Commission clears acquisition of Nutricia by Friesland Coberco in the dairy sector The European Commission has decided to approve the proposed acquisition of Nutricia Dairy and Drinks Group (NDDG), a division of Koninklijke Numico N.V., Netherlands, by Friesland Coberco Dairy Foods Holding N.V. (FCDF), Netherlands. Both companies are active in the dairy industry. The transaction does not raise any competition concerns.
  • [03] Commission allocates euro 750,000 for victims of flooding in Bosnia and Herzegovina The European Commission has earmarked euro 750,000 in emergency aid for the victims of recent floods in Northeast Bosnia and Herzegovina. Channelled through the Humanitarian Aid office ECHO, which comes under the responsibility of Commissioner Poul Nielson, the financial support will allow ECHO's partners to carry out operations over the next six months. Continuous rainfalls during June caused flooding in Northeast Bosnia and Herzegovina, severely damaging houses, crops and infrastructure. Many local water networks have been damaged and polluted by floodwaters. The local authorities have indicated humanitarian needs caused by insufficient water quality and related health hazard. In response to this situation, ECHO, through its partners, will support repairs to municipal and local water networks as well as a sanitation campaign, conducted in close cooperation with the local authorities, to prevent the spread of waterborne diseases.
