[01] Commission clears joint venture of Totalfina and Saarberg
The European Commission has approved the proposed concentration of German
undertakings by which Totalfina Deutschland GmbH (TFD) will participate in
control of the Saarberg AG subsidiary Michel Mineralölhandel GmbH (MMH)

une procédure contre l'Allemagne, le Luxembourg, l'Irlande, la Belgique, le
Portugal et l'Autriche
La Commission européenne a décidé de poursuivre six États membres devant la
Cour de justice des Communautés européennes pour manquement à leurs
obligations découlant de la directive concernant la maîtrise des dangers
liés aux accidents majeurs (Seveso II). Parmi ces États membres, certains
n'ont adopté et communiqué aucune législation mettant en vigueur la
directive : l'Irlande, le Portugal et le Luxembourg, même si ce dernier
pays s'apprête à publier sa législation en la matière. D'autres ont arrêté
et notifié une législation incomplète : l'Allemagne, la Belgique et
l'Autriche.
[03] Industrial production down 0.4% in euro-zone; -1.1% in EU15
(! embargo 12am !) Seasonally adjusted industrial production decreased by
0.4% in the euro-zone in June compared to May, Eurostat estimates today.
This follows a gain of 0.5% in April and an increase of 0.6% in May.
Production in the EU15 fell by 1.1% in June, after an increase of 0.2% in
April and 1.1% in May. Output in June decreased in Denmark (-10.6%),
Germany (-3.8%), Italy (-0.7%), France and Belgium (-0.6%). Output
increased in the Netherlands (2.8%), in Luxembourg6 (4.5%), Portugal (0.8%),
Finland (0.1%) and the UK (0.1%). Output in June 2000 increased by 3.8% in
the euro-zone and by 3.7% in the EU15 compared with June 1999. Durable
consumer goods and capital goods led the gain in the overall index with
growth rates of 5.2% and 6.1% respectively in the euro-zone and 6.2% and
5.7% respectively in the EU15. Intermediate goods production was 3.6%
higher in the euro-zone and 3.5% in the EU15. Non-durable consumer goods
increased by 2.3% in the euro-zone and by 2.2% in the EU15. MIDDAY EXPRESS
