[01] July 2000 - euro-zone annual inflation stable at 2.4% ; EU15 up to
2.2%
Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM): Commission approves further
humanitarian aid worth €2 million The European Commission has approved
funding to ensure continued support for refugees and host families in
FYROM. Managed by ECHO, the Humanitarian Aid Office of the European
Commission, the aid will enable non-governmental agencies to carry out
projects until the end of this year. The main purposes of this decision are
to continue providing food distribution to about 20,000 vulnerable people
and assist refugees with psycho-social relief and educational care.
Children will be a priority for help. The aid will also focus on vocational
training and capacity building projects, which includes strengthening
social institutions such as centres for social welfare and local Non
Governmental Organisations. The target group includes Serbs from Kosovo and
members of the Roma community. The implementing partners are InterSOS,
Cooperazione e Sviluppo (CESVI) and Centro Regionale di Intervento per la
Cooperazione (CRIC, Italy). Previous Commission decisions to date for
victims of the Kosovo crisis amount to €378 million. (for more information:

[01] July 2000 - euro-zone annual inflation stable at 2.4% ; EU15 up to
2.2%
Euro-zone annual inflation remained stable at 2.4% between June and July,
Eurostat reports today. EU15 annual inflation rose from 2.1% in June to
2.2% in July. Highest annual rates were in Ireland (5.9%), Luxembourg
(4.7%), Spain (3.7%) and lowest rates were in the United Kingdom (1.0%),
Sweden (1.3%), Germany, France and Austria (all 2.0%). Compared with June
2000, annual inflation rose in nine Member States, fell in five and was
unchanged in one.
