  • [01] Commission clears acquisition of joint control of Cokowi by OMV and Rheinbraun

The European Commission has granted regulatory approval to an operation whereby Austrian company OMV AG and German company Rheinbraun AG, will acquire joint control of the Cokowi Group, an Austrian wholesaler and retailer of fuel oil and solid fuels. The deal does not significantly alter the competitive structure of the markets for fuel oils, solid fuels and petrol in Austria.

[02] Commission clears Rio Tinto takeover bid for Australia's North

The European Commission has granted clearance under the European Union's merger control law to Rio Tinto's proposed takeover bid for Australian mining group North. The companies' activities overlap only in a limited number of metals and minerals markets and the Commission's review concluded to the absence of a dominant position in any of those markets.

[03] Commission clears acquisition by Callahan of a second Deutsche Telekom regional cable TV network

The European Commission has given its green light to the partial sale by Deutsche Telekom (DT) of its regional cable TV network in Baden-Württemberg, in southwest Germany, to Callahan Associates International (Callahan). This is Callahan's second acquisition of a cable network from DT. This operation will lead to stronger competition for the provision of telecomunications and Internet services over the cable network
