[01] La Commission approuve la mise en commun par Iveco et Renault de leurs
activités respectives dans le domaine des autocars et autobus
La Commission européenne a approuvé une opération par laquelle les
entreprises Iveco S.p.A. (Fiat) et R.V.I. (Renault Véhicules Industriels -
Renault S.A.) acquièrent le contrôle conjoint d'une entreprise commune
destinée à regrouper les activités des parties dans le domaine des
autocars/autobus.
[02] Commission clears Marsh McLennan and Sedgwick merger
The European Commission has approved a proposed concentration by which
Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc. (US) acquire control of the whole of
Sedgwick Group plc (UK) by acquiring Sedgwick's entire share capital. Both
companies are leading insurance brokers. The merged entity will have a
clear market leadership in several European countries by holding
substantial shares of the insurance broking market. Yet competition from
other insurance distributors as well as the important countervailing power
of customers coupled with their possibility to switch to alternative forms
of risk management will prevent the new entity from dominating the European
broking sector. Similar considerations have allowed the Commission to
exclude the possibility that the merger could result in a dominant position
on the UK and Irish markets for human resource consulting where the parties
have significant market shares.
[03] Commission gives green light to acquisition by Kodak of certain
Imation imaging activities
The European Commission has decided to approve an operation by which the
Eastman Kodak Company ("Kodak") will acquire certain businesses from
Imation Corp ("Imation"). The businesses concerned are Imation's medical
imaging business world-wide, Imation's dry imagesetting film technology,
and Imation's document imaging business in Germany.
[04] Commission approves an acquisition in the paper sector
The European Commission has approved an operation in the paper sector
through which the group CVC Capital Partners Europe Ltd (CVC) through its
Italian subsidiary, Cartiere del Garda, S.p.A. acquires sole control over
the French company, Smurfit Condat, S.A., belonging to the Jefferson
Smurfit Group. CVC, like the target company, is a producer of coated wood
free paper. Due to the limited size of the combined market share in this
product attained by the merger, the operation give rise to no competition
concerns. Consequently, the Commission has decided to declare it
compatible with the common market and the European Economic Area agreement.
[05] Commission launches an in-depth enquiry into LHZ proposed joint
venture concerning earth information systems
The European Commission has decided to proceed to an in-depth investigation
under the Merger Regulation of the establishment of new joint venture "LHZ"
which will produce image-based earth information systems ("EIS"), that is,
airborne cameras and associated image processing equipment used principally
for high-precision mapping and similar applications. The joint venture
would be ultimately controlled by the General Electric Company plc (UK),
Carl Zeiss-Stiftung (Germany), and a private investor.
travail.
