[01] Angola: Commission approves humanitarian aid plan worth ECU 14 Million
The European Commission has approved a package of humanitarian aid worth
ECU 14 million for Angola. It will be mainly oriented toward medical aid
(primary and preventive healthcare, provision of clean water and
sanitation), feeding programmes (therapeutic and supplementary feeding
programmes aimed mainly at malnourished children) and home start-up kits
(distribution of basic house hold goods to enable people to resettle and
survive). The aid managed by the European Community Humanitarian Office
(ECHO), will enable ECHO's partner organisations to carry out a coordinated
programme over the next year. Specialist organisations of the United
Nations, the Red Cross family and non-governmental organisations will carry
out the work in the field. (for more information, IP/97/10 - F. di Robilant
