BRUSSELS - Finland joined the European Union's exchange rate mechanism
currency grid on Saturday in a move widely hailed as a boost to the single
European currency).

now shift to currencies still outside, especially to the Italian lira but also

weeks new measures to discourage smoking in the European Union, a Commission

BRUSSELS - The European Union grain trade group forecast on Friday a record EU
crop of 201 million tonnes, 25 million tonnes more than last year's harvest
after farmers expanded plantings and favourable weather helped boost yields.
