[01] Ozgurgun alleges that occupied Morfou will never be returned to its Greek Cypriot owners

Asked to comment on the issue Ozcinar told the paper, inter alia, the following:

"Before referring to this issue I want to note the following: The Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos will visit south Cyprus and will be granted the title of honorary citizen of Morfou. The so-called mayor and the municipal council have taken such decision! President Akinci must make a statement on this issue. Our neighbors continue to ignore us. However, we have been holding local elections in Morfou since 1976. And the people of Morfou elect their administrators. We are here since 1976. I cannot understand how the President of Greece accepts such title. [?] I am clearly saying this: The municipal council of the people of Morfou has not taken such decision.

Coming to the other issue, their policy on Morfou has been continuing for many years. It must be known that this place is not the Morfou of 1974. Investments were made, we made it bigger. And our citizens who came afterwards and were given property of equal value, settled here by leaving their property in the south. They turned this place into their homeland and rebuilt their lives here. They were born here, they died here, that is, from humanitarian point of view this wish [of the Greek Cypriots] cannot happen. In a possible referendum the entire people, not only Morfou, must clearly understand what will happen and take their decision accordingly. [?]"

Meanwhile, Turkish Cypriot daily Yeni Duzen newspaper (06.07.16) reports that Huseyin Ozgurgun, self-styled prime minister of the breakaway regime in the occupied area of the Republic of Cyprus, has also referred to the issue over his Twitter account. He said: "The president of the Greek Cypriot administration Anastasiades said that there could never be a solution without giving Morfou. This is a reply to those calling 2016 as the year of the solution. My reply is: Morfou can never be given".

[02] Afrika comments on Erdogan's statement that Turkey will grant citizenship to Syrian refugees

Commenting on this statement, the paper writes that all Syrian refugees that will be granted the Turkish citizenship will have the right to vote in the general and local elections in Turkey as well as in the referenda for the new Constitution.

The paper writes also the following: "It has been always said that 'whatever happens in Turkey, it happens also in the TRNC. Now it's the contrary. Whatever it happens in the TRNC, it happens also in Turkey. Tayyip Erdogan has stated that citizenship is to be granted to Syrian refugees. If 2 million 733 thousand Syrians become citizens of Turkey, 1,5 million out of them will have the right of voting in Turkey's elections. If from the 1,5 million Syrian refugees which will be able to affect the elections results, there will be somebody that would like to become a candidate, then the Syrian refugees will be able to elect a mayor or even an MP. In 2014 and 2015, Erdogan had said that Syrians will return back to their countries".

The paper writes further that the scenario in Cyprus concerning the citizenship is been played in Turkey.

[03] People in Istanbul's streets were attacked because of smoking and drinking alcohol

Another person has been sent to hospital since he was smoking.

Commenting on the incident, the paper writes: "The same troubles and threats are expecting us?".

[04] The waste disposal from an orange juice factory causes a huge environmental disaster

According to the paper, the waste from the orange juice production is drainning into a river in the near area and has become the reason for a huge environmental disaster. The river has turned into a kind of swamp. The paper publishes a lot of photos wich show the environmental disaster.

[05] Erdogan says Turkey's issue is with the Egyptian ruler not the people

In remarks made following Eid al-Fitr prayer in Istanbul, Erdogan said: "The problem with Egypt is an issue with its administration, especially with its ruler."

Ankara and Cairo have had troubled ties following the ouster of Egypt's first democratically-elected leader Mohamed Morsi in a 2013 military coup led by Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, then Defense Minister and now President.

Erdogan said he could not condone such Egyptian rulings. The Turkish President also said that Ankara would increase the pace of its anti-terror campaign following the Eid al-Fitr. "As long as the unity and brotherhood continues, we will definitely overcome this terror," he said.

[06] Seven killed in military helicopter crash in Turkey's Giresun

The Sikorsky S-70 helicopter was carrying 15 people. They were returning from Eid al-Fitr visits to military posts and families of fallen soldiers in the region.

Seven people, including soldiers, were killed in the accident while eight others were wounded, the General Staff said in a statement. It added that the cause of the accident could not immediately be determined.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Binali Y?ld?r?m said there were both casualties and injuries in the accident, which was caused by poor weather. In addition, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also contacted Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar for information on the crash. TURKISH AFFAIRS SECTION
