[01] Nami: The international community is waiting for the resumption of the Cyprus talks after 19 April

Nami has completed his contacts in Britain and today he is expected to meet with the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu. It is said that they will discuss the Cyprus negotiations, the so-called isolations of the Turkish Cypriots, and the issues of halloumi-hellim cheese and the Turkish Cypriot football.

In his statements to Kibris, Nami recalled that in Britain he has met with leading personalities at the House of Lords and the House of Commons and delivered a conference on the Cyprus problem at the London School of Economics.

Nami said that he has given interviews to British media and held unofficial contacts with members of the British government with which he had established friendly relations. He noted that they have discussed the situation in the Cyprus talks, the influence of natural gas on the process and the expectations for 2015.

Nami added: "Two issues came forth here. What should be done in order for [President] Anastasiades to unconditionally return to the negotiating table and the steps needed to be taken for the ending of the isolation of the Turkish Cypriots while the process continues". He noted that a "great understanding is being developed" towards the Turkish Cypriots in Britain and the British officials he had met said that more concrete steps should be taken especially in the direction of lifting the "isolations".

Referring to the issue, Nami alleged: "I think that Anastasiades leaving the table has created a more positive ground here regarding the promotion of our positions on this issue. Until today we were told that 'the negotiations are about to be completed and therefore we do not want to do anything which will annoy one of the sides'. However, now the collapse of this expectation and being at this point because of the Greek Cypriot leader abandoned the table has caused a further broadening of the understanding that 'the Turkish Cypriots cannot pay the price for this anymore'".

Referring to the issue of halloumi-hellim cheese, Nami claimed that the Greek Cypriots are not at the point they had been at the beginning as they had "demanded" the production of halloumi in the occupied area of Cyprus to be controlled by the Republic of Cyprus' Ministry of Agriculture, but now they accepted the control to be held by an independent body for both sides of the island. Nami argued that the red line of the Turkish Cypriots on this issue is the establishment of a mechanism by the Ministry of Agriculture for controlling the production of halloumi cheese in the occupied area of Cyprus and the expansion of what he called as "Greek Cypriot sovereignty" to the occupied northern part of the island. He claimed that turning the issue into a matter of sovereignty "makes the situation more difficult".

The paper publishes also a picture of Nami with Alexander Downer, Australian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and UN Secretary-General's former Special Adviser on Cyprus.

[02] Cicek: Turkey expects a more just approach by its friendly country US on the Cyprus problem

During the meeting Cicek stated that "Turkey expects a more just approach by its friendly country US on the Cyprus problem". He also said that Turkey supported the 2004 Annan Plan for the solution of the Cyprus problem while the Greek Cypriot side rejected it.

He also stated that unilateral efforts are exerted for the solution and said that Turkey expects more support from the USA for a lasting and just solution to be reached.

[03] Sertoglu: Discussions with KOP will intensify in March; We want partnership not membership

Sertoglu said that the process with the Cyprus Football Association (CFA or KOP) is continuing and argued that stagnancy is observed at the moment because of problems which KOP is facing. He noted that activity will be experienced at the process with KOP within the forthcoming days and the initiatives and the meetings will intensify in March.

Turkish Cypriot daily Kibris newspaper (20.02.15) reports that in statements to Kibris TV, Sertoglu said that their biggest problem is "the opening of the Turkish Cypriot football to the world" and expressed the belief that this will be solved. Referring to the discussions with KOP, he alleged: "The Greek Cypriots say no now for many things they had said yes. However, they will also have no place to escape, we will continue attacking. They will be put in a corner at a point. Then we will solve the problem with an interim formula. Some persons will make us meet in the middle, I am sure about this and this will not take long".

Sertoglu claimed that a wrong impression had been created in a part of the society and alleged that the "KTTF" will not become member of KOP, but its partner. He said that they want to take back their existing rights. "If this was depended on the Greek Cypriots, they would give nothing. We will force this by getting the foreign powers into action", he alleged.

[04] Tacoy held contacts in Ankara

According to diplomatic sources, Tacoy and Cavusoglu discussed issues related to their bilateral ties, while they also evaluated issues related to the cooperation between Turkey and the "TRNC" in the fields of transportation and communication.

Meanwhile, Turkish Cypriot daily Yeni Bakis newspaper (20.02.15) reports that Tacoy met also with Turkey's Civil Aviation Authorities.

According to a statement issued by the so-called ministry, a cooperation agreement was signed between Turkey and the "TRNC" for flight instruction. The requirements and advantages of the aviation instruction in the "TRNC" were also discussed during the meeting, writes the paper.

[05] Tore: "We should work on increasing our population"; He calls for more "TRNC citizenships" to be given to Turkish nationals

Stressing the need to pay special attention to the issue related with the population of the "TRNC" and the territory issue, Tore stated that he brought these issues to the agenda since the Greek Cypriot side utilizes the issue of population all the time.

Commenting on the "citizenship procedures" for Turkish nationals who are coming to the occupied area of Cyprus to settle, Tore claimed that thousands of people were "deprived" of their rights to become "citizens" of the "TRNC". "TRNC is a nation state, it's a republic, however, some of the rights that are secured by the laws were temporarily suspended and as a result of this, some people were not able to be benefited from their basic rights".

"There are some people who present as an excuse the demographic change and try to prevent Turkish nationals from getting TRNC citizenships. This is unacceptable. We should work on increasing our population. By doing this, our state will be stronger and production would increase" Tore said. .

He further stated that the "TRNC" should do more work on its population and stressed the need for exert efforts to "increase" it.

[06] More discussions on halloumi/hellim cheese in the occupied area of Cyprus

Senarroglu said that the above mention committee will take decisions, prepare the agenda and the contacts of the "foreign ministry" on this issue and continue the struggle of the "government" on the hellim issue in every platform.

Meanwhile, delivering a speech during the meeting of the assembly, Faiz Sucuoglu, "deputy" with the National Unity Party (UBP) referred to the issue of halloumi/hellim and said: "We are losing hellim from our hands. It's course moves towards the Greek Cypriots".

Pointing out that there are 47,600 persons in the "TRNC" who have revenues from halloumi/hellim, Sucuoglu warned that in case the issue of halloumi/hellim is solved in the way the Greek Cypriots want, they will apply to the Board of Justice. He also called the "assembly" to undertake its responsibilities on this issue.

[07] YKP will not participate in the 19 April "elections" and calls on the "people" not to vote

In a statement issued yesterday by the party, it is said that the "YKP thinks that saying no to these elections is a disengagement from the internal alternatives in this system of such lack of alternatives".

"In the conditions we live, and especially under the conditions of occupation where the ability of the leaders to act and change have become zero, we do not believe that charismatic leaders will help", the statement noted.

[08] "We are gathering Movement" condemns the "cooperation protocol agreement" signed between Turkey and the breakaway regime

The "cooperation protocol" envisages the opening of a coordination office in the "TRNC" in the field of youth and sports".

The Movement stated that the protocol is against the "constitution of the TRNC", and also against the will of the "people" and added that this development is a threat to the regime's principles.

[09] Benter stated that no license will be given to casino, bet offices and nights clubs to rent property which belongs to the Vakif administration

Stating that the Vakif administration gives license for renting its property in accordance with its regulations, Benter pointed out that casinos, bet offices and night clubs will not be excluded from this practice.

Explaining that after the decision received by the "administration board" of the Vakif administration, the renting of Vakif's property to casinos, bet offices and night clubs has been prohibited, Benter stated that this decision should be respected and added that this is a principle decision of Vakif which needs to be implemented.
